The European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) is a network of European organisations working together to observe the oceans, to make the collected marine data freely available and interoperable, to create seamless data layers across sea-basins and to distribute the data and data products through the Internet. The primary aim of EMODnet is to unlock existing but fragmented and hidden marine data and make them accessible for a wide range of users including private bodies, public authorities and researchers.
Anna holds a Bsc in Biology from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Tropical Biodiversity and Ecosystems. For her Master Thesis she collaborated with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Brisbane to research the impact of Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported seafood trade.
She has experience in teaching high school students and continues tutoring. In her free time she is a member of the Training and Mentoring Task Team of the Early Career Ocean Professionals Network.
As a Junior Science Communication Support Officer Intern at Seascape Belgium she will dedicate her time to European projects EU4Ocean, European Atlas of the Seas and AQUAPHOENIX. In this role she supports communication and outreach, social media management, and community building.
