The European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) is a network of European organisations working together to observe the oceans, to make the collected marine data freely available and interoperable, to create seamless data layers across sea-basins and to distribute the data and data products through the Internet. The primary aim of EMODnet is to unlock existing but fragmented and hidden marine data and make them accessible for a wide range of users including private bodies, public authorities and researchers.
Isild holds a MSc in Environmental Politics from University College London, where she specialised in Climate Change Politics, Geo-Politics, and Resource Extractivism. She also holds a BSc in Liberal Arts and Sciences from University College Maastricht, focusing on Animal Biology and Environmental Sciences. Her undergraduate thesis explored the impacts of oil drilling in the Norwegian Arctic and its effects on marine mammals and ecosystems.
Between her bachelor and master’s, Isild worked as an intern in the Wildlife Program at Eurogroup for Animals, contributing to research, advocacy strategies and policy reports elaboration at the European Union level.
Before joining Seascape Belgium, besides her master’s, she gained experience as a Project Officer for Nature Restoration at Generation Climate Europe, where she led youth advocacy efforts around the EU Nature Restoration Law, focusing on policy reports, stakeholder engagement, and media advocacy.
As a Junior Science Support Officer, Isild will support the build up of the EU4Ocean Platform, contribute to communication and outreach regarding the European Atlas of the Seas, as well as support other ocean science and environmental management projects through desktop studies and assessments.
