Ir. Cécile Nys, Project Officer

Ir. Cécile Nys graduated as a Bioengineer (Agricultural Engineer) in the "Management of Forests and Natural Areas" from Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech (University of Liège, Belgium) in 2014. She also acquired a second specialization in the "Management of Fisheries and Coastal and Continental Ecosystems" at Agrocampus Ouest Rennes (now "l'institut Agro") in France in 2013-2014.

She has over 6 years of professional experience in various scientific and technical fields, disciplines and sectors including fisheries, ocean management, marine spatial planning (MSP), the maritime sector, finance sector, energy suppliers’ sector, certification and data management. She has been working in three different countries (France, Belgium, Spain), is multilingual (FR-NL-EN-ES-PT) and used to working in multicultural teams. In the academic sector, she worked for UBO, Ifremer and OceanScope. In the private sector she worked for Alpha Card and Selectra. She also worked at the French fishing Association "France Filière Pêche''. 

During her career she has contributed to various marine related national, European and international projects and Research Infrastructures: ODATIS (French Ocean Data Cluster), H2020 Blue-Cloud (Innovative services for Marine Research & the Blue Economy), RI DATA TERRA (French Earth System observation data, both satellite and in-situ), ANR COPiLOtE (CoreTrustSeal Certification & FAIR data & PID), the SAR-SIMM 'Common language' WG (common data repositories and models of the French Marine Information System), EMOD-PACE (China-Europe Cooperation), Phidias (Cloud Services for marine data management), GEF Blue Forests (Blue carbon), H2020 Ecopotential (Marine Earth Observation), Tech4Whales (Marine mammal collisions), GIFS (Fishery
governance) and SIMNORAT (Stakeholder engagement in MSP).

Cécile joined Seascape Belgium's team in August 2021 as Project Officer assigned to the EMODnet Secretariat and the EMOD-PACE project.
